Starting problem

Not sure if this should be here or in the electrical section tbh!

Having problems with starting the Rocco.

It does always start but more often than not, needs a really long crank, long enough that I always feel that I'm going to flatten the battery. (I haven't)

Runs OK when started (apart from my long standing slight "hesitation" problem).

Any suggestions as to where to start looking greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jeff

What engine and fuel intake do you have?

Earth connection/lead in good condition or battery moved to boot?

Hi Jeff,

Are you running carbs or injection?

More info would help,
When was it last serviced, what was done, how old is the battery etc?

When it starts does it run lumpy or ticks over nicely at 1000 rpm?

Do you have to touch the accelerator pedal to start it?

Check your big battery cables and earth leads (including body to engine earth leads). Try running an additional/replacement Earth from the Battery -ve to the engine block using a jump cable or similar. I had a similar sounding issue on an Golf due to a faulty main earth.
