Removing old bonnet sound deadening and preparing for new?Any one else done it?

1. Cover engine bay and wings fully with clean sheeting e.g masking sheeting
2. Peel as much as you can get off with your fingers until you're left with a thin base remnant of the original foam / sticky layer.
3. Carefully soak the sticky layer using cellulose paint thinner and a clean rag. Use your nails or (very carefully) a plastic spatula to work some holes in the layer. Peel and reapply thinner/ rub the rag / repeat to work away the material taking care not to scratch the paint.
4. Wipe the cleared surface down with damp clean rag and dry before applying new sound deadening.
This job is hard work and takes time. Replacing one segment on mine took well over an hour!

It’s a lot easier if you remove the bonnet.
