MK2 Scirocco GT 1.6 '87 - £1000 ONO - REDUCED

This car has been my pride and joy for the last 8 years, I am the 3rd owner, the first was a Lady who owned it for 19 years, it was then part-exchanged to a garage where I bought it and have owned it since.
I am selling only because I am being offered another Classic vehicle which has been in my family for a long time and there isn’t enough space on the drive!
This car has been well looked after during my time with it, I have spared no expense maintaining it including but not limited to;
Cam-belt change less than 5000 miles ago.
New Ignition Coil, distributor cap, uprated battery for improved cold-starting, new fuel pump and swirl pot.
Nuts and bolts strip down, clean and rebuild of original Webber 32/34 DMTL Carburettor.
Fixed known problem with original metal filler-necks rotting and fouling the fuel tank by replacing metal filler neck with a BMW E38 plastic filler neck and replaced fuel tank.
Resolved another known problem where the bulkhead pulls through into the cabin where the clutch cable goes into the engine bay by reinforcing with 6mm thick steel plate. This is also a known problem on Mk1 Golfs.

Swapped original 4T coded (5-gear economy) gearbox, for a short-ratio Mk2 Golf 1.8 5-speed ACD ‘box with matched clutch plate and flywheel. There is nothing wrong with the old box, as my plan was to transfer the ‘taller’ 5th gear from the 4T ‘box into the ACD box to give optimal faster 0-60 time plus improved cruising consumption. I still have the 4T box if you are interested.

Also had replacement Gear linkage bushes (changes are crisp and accurate - no wobbly gear knob!)
Engine mounts changed when gearbox, clutch and flywheel changed.
Inner and Outer front CV Joints replaced.
Front suspension mounts changed less than 100 miles ago.
Drilled and Grooved sports discs and uprated pads on the front.
Rear drum brake shoes, springs, wheel bearings and hydraulics replaced.

Virtually standard apart from the following:
Adjustable suspension front and rear - due to lack of OE parts.
Widened rear stance due to hub adaptors - essential to ensure clearance for the plastic filler neck.
Blue leather Scala Interior - Signs of wear on Driver side bolster (the interior is 30 years old!)
De-badged grille - I have the original still.

Room for improvement:
Work drivers seat bolster (mentioned above).
Needs running regularly and a bit of TLC.
When sitting for a number of days it can take a while to turn over - regular usage ensures punctual starting. - I was about to fit a electric pump to force fuel into the carb on starting but I think it is unnecessary.
Some paint on drivers side door.
LCD Clock in Instrument cluster is leaking so time isn't clearly displayed.

I was getting prepped for a 1.8T Swap before the need to sell it.
I have tried to be as honest as possible.
Please no time wasters; you won’t find a more unmolested and cared for example for the money.
OIRO £1000
