Wing/scuttle trim

I have lost the plastic trim that goes between the top of the wing and the scuttle/bottom of the A-pillar, it must have come out on one of my blasts! Does anyone know what these actually do or are they just decorative? Does anyone have a spare for the passenger side? Cheers

They are just decorative, Mk1 Golfs have the same gap and there is no plastic trim in that gap.
Only fitted to Mk1 Scirocco so tricky to get hold of.
Have a look at the car builder website and you may find some sort of plastic trim to match, properly a lot cheaper and easier to find than a genuine one?

Not my car:
I also noticed that Porsche 911 (930) have them as seals,do they not prevent water ingress? Think actually looks better without them!

No because the water would get underneath them anyway, the water just drains away inside the wheel arch, there should be no way water can get into the car from there unless you have a rusty hole.
You can the same area in this add for a Golf.

I've seen a couple that have been replaced with mastic.
Heritage used to have them, I bought a pair for mine
I reckon you could trim new ones from this
