Igniton barrel wiring

Post by Yolandi2 »

hi everyone, first post so bear with,
I've nearly finished getting my GT2 project on the road and currently I'm putting new barrels all round (didn't come with keys).
So I understand that on the back of the ignition barrel all the wires connected with a single block connector, however the wires in mine have been cut and some have got crimp connectors on and some just bare, what Id like to do it put crimps on all the wires and just connect them to the ignition switch that way.
can anyone tell be which wires go to which spade terminal?

i think it would be safer if you soldered the wires back onto the origenal plug. there`s quite a lot of power running through the ignition switch and you really dont want them wires touching each other.
by looking at the origenal plug you should be able to work out which wire goes where? or is it missing?
if you can wait i will try and upload a pic in the week from the haynes manual.

hi, yer the original plug is missing and I've just got a few wires hanging down by the switch with bare ends, the thicker red (permanent live) and black/yellow (load relay?) have bare crimps on them, I assume these are still on from being pulled out of the plug block

I havnt got a photo but as well as the red and black/yellow ive got 4 black wires that have been twisted together into two wires (if I touch one to the red the electrics come on and if I touch the other itll crank and start) and a thin grey wire with a narrow crimp connector on the end

I might have a piece of loom with the right plug on it.
