timing for 1.6 Carb

Post by steve GT VW »

Hi all

do you know if or how often the timing should be checked on 86 carb engine, just never thought about it until the car started running a bit thirsty

or does it not need to be checked?

I try and leave the timing alone, not really touched mine once it's set, advance the timing till it pinks under load the back the timing off a little still it stops pinking.
I don't even use a timing light.
I went 10 years with out adjusting the timing till I had to remove the dissy as I had an oil leak.
