Fog Lights

I want to replace one of mine as the glass is broken and I see that Hella ( the original make) do a pair of Comet Fog lights for circa £55.

The query I have is that the Scirocco ones are hung downwards with the fixing bolt at the top. On some hella literature I read it says for "upward mounting" i.e with the fixing bolt at the bottom.

can one simply turn the lights upside down so the fixing bracket is at the top as on the Scirocco or does that mean that the light patten will pot be right?

The part number seems to be different but they look identical.

Anyone have a bright idea?

Yes, fog lamps have a specific downward beam pattern - it's why the bellends who use fogs when it's not foggy or, in particular, when it's wet are such a menace.

Best thing - ask in parts wanted section. Loads of second hand ones will be sitting in peoples garages on here - and the drives side and passenger sides do have different part numbers.

They are (or at least were very recently) still available new from VW Classic Parts and not all that expensive as far as I remember.

I have a set with the brackets you can have. I think one of the lenses might have a crack in, I can't remember.

im pretty sure the fog lamps can be taken apart and the back housing flipped so the bracket is on the bottom instead of the top thus keeping the beam pattern.
i had to do this to the RING foglamps i used to have fitted.
