Mark 2 - fuel filler neck **sigh**

Hi all,

The Scirocco has had a few running problems recently, loss of power under load etc.

It's been in the garage for a week now, had various replacement parts (fuel filter, fuel pump, coil pack etc.) with no joy. The guys took the fuel tank off to check it, and guess what?

The fuel filler neck collapsed :x

I know this is common, and difficult to replace, but I've had a search online and the only one I can find is https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/scirocc ... 2-83-7-92/ at just over £400.

Does anybody know of any other options? And is that definitely the part I need?

The rest of the car is in great shape so I don't really want to abandon it.

Cheers,

Carlos

I bought one direct from vw classic parts in Germany 3 years ago for 134 euro.

It's bound to be more now of course but still cheaper than your quote.

Peter Alt is the guy to contact: Peter.Alt@vw-classicparts.de

you can use a mk1 golf one from vw-heritage or classic-vw. its needs a bit of work to make it fit but it will go. you need to cut 6 inch off the length I believe that you cannot use your original filler cap though as it won't fit so you will need to buy one of those too. and at £31.50 its a great price!

hopefully someone who has actually done it can tell you if you need a tintop or cabrio one.
