oh no not again!
Was driving down dual carriageway and the engine lost power stuttered then kicked in again. Strange i thought but kept going. Then it did it again. This time with a couple of pops, then completely cut out

managed to coast to the next turning but it won't start again now.
It turns over but just pops and a puff of black smoke comes out the back!
So sat here waiting for the aa man to come rescue me and hopefully figure out the problem!
Anyone got any ideas?!
Will....

If it starts again when it's cold, could be the ignition amplifier. This is what my car did when mine gave up.
Could also be the coil.
I think the ignition system is probably a good place to start looking if there are no signs of a fuel leak and your fuel pump(s) are working.

Righty
the rotor arm had come loose and the metal contact from the coil HT lead had melted thus contact was lost
i thought it was a timing issue
anyway AA man bodged it so i could get home and put a spare one on
so set off again on my journey and finally made it here butnow hacve other problems!
see other thread i started
cheers for the help thought guys :)
