coolant pipes

anyone had a go at making coolant pipes to fit awkward spots?
ive made a pipe to join the rad top hose to the block on crusty, but its a bit heath Robinson and im looking for a better way of doing it.
any pics or advice anyone can offer?
the engine in crusty is the 2 litre abf mk3 golf engine so has the plastic water out let on the front in a not very helpfull direction away from the rad top outlet.
