Part number - LHD headlights

Post by p in phcas »

All, It looks like I am going to be moving to deepest, darkest Europe soon and will be taking my Scala with me. I am going to try and get my car registered locally and I know that the headlights will be an issue.

Does anybody have the VW part numbers for the Hella headlights (or similar, have seen Bosch versions too) to convert to LHD working. Alternatively, Hella or Bosch or other part numbers would also be useful for me to search with.

Scala - 1990 (and mostly original)

You only need to replace the outer (large) lights, not the inner lights.

Looking at VAG-CAT, these appear to be the correct part numbers for LHD lights:

533 941 105B (left)
533 941 106B (right)

However it might be easier to buy a set of used LHD lights on eBay and just swap in the whole assembly rather than trying to replace the individual lights. The adjusters/mounts on these lights are pretty fragile, especially as they get old and tend to break easily. If you can find a nice set of used lights, that might be the better way to go.

One other small consideration - I believe VWs in LHD countries normally have the rear fog on the left hand tail light assembly as well.

Regards,
Tom

Thanks Tom, hadn't thought about the fog light, will check that out. I did find a full set on ebay.de by one of the units was rusty on the reflector and I got a definite "Kein auslandsversand" All the rest are +70€ each. I'll do some searching using the part numbers and see what sites come up. The transporter from the mid eighties seem to have similar headlamps too.

PM.

I have both headlights - NOS. One in original VW box! I will dig them out over the weekend, and check on postage cost. I would be looking for £60 + postage for the pair. Let me know if you are interested.
