Anyone have any experience of replacing a headliner in a mk2? Any tips or know where I can get one from? Looking at doing mine as it's the only thing letting the interior down! Really don't want to take the windscreen out to do it.

i bought 2m length of this and templated it off the original one and sewed it up on the machine. its such a simple liner.

or go to a specialist who should charge you about £100 to make and fit it.

you may need a bit more than 2m. maybe 2.5m. I have a storm so a and b pillars are brown.

I had one made last year by a company local to me (in Stockton on Tees), cost me £70.
Fitted it myself, what a nightmare job, removed the rear side windows but left the front screen in, think the main problem for me was my car has an aftermarket sunroof and i just couldn't get the lining tight around it, doesn't look too bad finished.
If you can get someone to make an fit it for £100, let them do it!
Cheers

are they glued?
i thought it was the rubber seal of the windows that trapped them in place and the wires running across the roof that support the middle was all that holds them in?

yeah my old one seemed to be glued in place at the edges to the car, under the seals.

use high temperature spray adhesive. you spray the material and the metal (about 1cm where the rubber seal sits), then stick together. then slice the excess off. you don't need to wrap it over the metal on the outside, that will cause leaks. get a pack of new stanley blades too!! if you use good adheive it grab instantly so you won't need to use bulldog clips etc. and get some window goo for when you refit the glass.

Personally i would take the windscreen out. not sure how else you would do it. there a couple of videos on youtube that may be worth a quick look too.
