so, just a little start on this with plenty of pics to upload in the process, anyways the point where i am now is that i now have brought another engine. before any of the hate( ie - its a storm it should remain original with only light mods easily to change back for when you sell, blar blar blar ) i have no intention of selling this as its my daughters investment for when she turns 18.
originally the plan was to stick a 20vt into it, but seeing as that now the "in thing" , ive decided to buy a 2l 16v abf lump for a shockingly good price of £150...
suspension for the time being will be put back to standard ( liking the comfort ) but still keeping the 256mm brake upgrade
how it did look when first spotted it & how it looks now

Nice pictures! Looking forward to seeing more. The car is looking sharp!
(As far as the hate goes for changing the engine - that would just be silly - it's a Scirocco, not a Ferrari Daytona or a 911 RS Touring - do what makes you happy!!)

kewl stuff it worked
changed the clutch yesterday, thanks to some help from blackgtx ( very nice guy ) i managed to get the gearbox back attached and pushed car back into garage to finish off another day, hardest part done.. the release bearing got me a little confused though, weird how a tiny bearing works the clutch, hopefully the stiff pedal has gone. more pics to upload shortly. steering rack, bushes and whole new exhaust fitted soon too. looking forward to the finishing touches.

I like these model storms.I have had three mk 2's now on the fourth scala model DX Engine. The third one I have since 2002.I always modify them. And then keep them to get my money's worth out of what I have spent them.

The only caveat to this is that you say you are keeping it as an investment. Investors in cars like original, low mileage and low owner vehicles. At the very least I'd keep everything that is needed to put it back to standard spec.

thats the plan, even if i do still the abf lump and run kr , the original engine would be rebuilt, maybe even bottom end reborred. so if/when the time comes to sell i will have all the original parts to put back. chances are, i would never get rid or sell on as ive grown attached. part of the family now
