I am refurbing the BBS RZ's that my GTX came on and want to fit something grippy to them. Road tyres not track day options in standard 185 -60-14 size
Any recommendations , experiences welcomed.

I run good year efficient grip performance tyres in that size on my golf. Perfectly happy with them and found they do work well in the wet when cornering and braking, which has been handy this winter.

Avoid anything "eco"
The new toyo proxies that aren't made in Japan are rubbish. Can't wait to get rid of them, but they seem to be lasting well. Sudden and violent breakaway, and at much lower speeds than the previous generations of proxies.
My daily runs Dunlop sportmaxx. Last well, grip ok and they are just so quiet! For a mile muncher, that is a big consideration as it makes it much less tiring to drive for long periods.
I got put off michelins back in the 90s when they brought in the mxt energy. They squealed nicely when they let go, but they just didn't grip anywhere near as well as you'd expect from a premium tyre.

i had michelins on my old mk2 golf and they would spin up in 3rd no probs but cornering was an issue.

Other half's MG has recently been fitted with a set of michy pilot spurt. It would appear they have improved since the 90s. Still don't think I could bring myself to stick them on my own car though :-/

ok, so before the storm got written off my wheels i brought from mr brown were as follows,
15" ats alulines, front and rear tyre setup are 195/45/15. front tyres are uniroyal rain expert 3 and rears are toyo proxes. i must admit, wow, very grippy wet and dry. gives you alot more confidence when chucking it round bendy roads etc. rears stayed put. didnt feel at any moment i wasnt in control.
now using the new addition "stealthy" ats now on them and also feels good. highly recommend

I used to swear by Toyo Proxies, was thinking of sticking them on Yoda.
Might stick to Perelli Ps. Never let me down.

Can definitely recommend Falken XE914, they are MSA listed, gripped nicely and lasted up very well for me on a fast trackday. Look cool too. Very good for the price

ok guys, so further into the "tests" of which tyres are best ( type thing ) to give a 'out of 10' mark. my results are as follows
whilst having the 20vt
michelin pilot sport 3's - 9 excellent in the rain, super grippy in the dry, but no sidewall give so lacked in comfort.= confidence whilst driving, perfect for road/track days and the heavy footed drivers
uniroyal rain expert 3's - 8 grippy in the dry, grippy in the wet, comfort whilst driving. = perfect for a cruiser,
for those with tuned engines that like to play around ( mad 5 mins ) - pilot sport 3's everytime

I currently run Toyo proxes. They seem to be doing well. These
Toyo tires have good grip in the dry, though it feels like the sidewalls are a bit soft.
