granted im prone to some really stupid ideas but this one ive just had seems reasonable enough and i need some words of wisdom from you guys.
my rear demister in the crusty rusty rocket doesnt work as the copper tracks have had it.
i tried cleaning the glass and two of them came away, so what i want to do is remove them completely, but how to demist the rear window?
so i remember edmundator saying he had 12v heaters in his old van which you can buy but are crap at heating.but then i thought may be usefull for demisting!!!!!
so now you can see where im going with this what do yo guys think?
it could be mounted on the slam panel pointing up at the rear window in the centre and be operated from the wiring that would have gone to the rear demister.
something like this is what i was thinking of using.

BMW 3 series convertibles came with a small compact heater fan for this job. X5s and Range Rovers both have something similar (but larger) for rear seat passengers. I have both types in my shed - for a "future track project".
Example - 3 series

That's useful to know! Might go for some of these for the camper. Time to hit the scrapyard

I have seen pens you can get to fixed them, and new adhesive tracks. But no idea how good/ bad ether of them are.

Is your rear window steaming up a lot because you have a water leak in the car?
To demist my rear window quickly without needed to use the heated rear screen I open my window while driving and it works a treat but you can get a little cold or wet doing this!
Used to work well in the old mini's I used to drive which did not come with a rear heated screen and a rubbish heater/blower which was like fanning a bit of paper at the windscreen.
You have 2 side mirrors which you can use?

I dont think there's a leak (although the car does sit around outside a lot) and it's just two of the tracks on the glass don't work and it's annoying because all of the rear window demists apart from two right in the middle.
Having a blower motor in the boot just seemed a good idea.
I appreciate the input though, I just hate it when things don't work and can't justify a new window "yet".
