Anyone have any idea what this is for?

As above, I have this knob fitted in my car that I have no idea what it does!
It turns side to side with stops at either side but doesn't appear to do anything that I notice?! It has wires going on to a circuit board and a relay I can see then disappears into the dash
Any help appreciated
Regards
Matt

Off the top of my head the green/red wire reminds me of one of the wiper wires - so could it be a variable speed intermittent wipe?

That's something I didn't think of I'll give it a try tomorrow!
I thought maybe rear speaker volume but there's none fitted upon checking

I keep considering this, but they're £20...I feel a bit silly spending £20 to slightly vary the speed. I like the idea of a potentiometer driven one though

This would be a fun way of doing it -

Go to your local scrapyard and look in mk3 golf's and Seat's of that age, won't charge you more than a fiver for it. Also they fit nicely the pocket of a loose fitting pair of trousers, not that I would condone that sort of behaviour of course.

Definitely worth having the variable wiper relay.

Never seen one in a t25 only ever the standard "19" relay. I've had them out of golfs, passats and a seat (can't remember which model though), never seen one in a skoda, but that doesn't mean they weren't fitted to them. I did have a box full of them a while ago, but sold them all on ebay. Might have to start collecting them again.

So how does relay 99 work then?

Turn on your intermittent wipers and before they have completed the first swipe turn them off. Wait until you can't see through the rain anymore, and turn them on again. They will now wait the same amount of time between swipes.
You can set the wait time anywhere from 1 sec upto about a minute. It will stay programmed until you either change the wait time or turn the car off.

It's amazing how many vehicles have this type of variable intermittent fitted and most people don't know! There's also quite a few other make cars that the 99 relay will work in.
Every time I go to the scrappy I grab any that they have, test them and stick them up for sale here
