Intake valves are looking pretty beat up. The seating surface is still good though

How much are new ones?
How did they get pitted in the first place?

Looks like around £20 a piece.

I bought the head they came out of as an unknown quantity. I'm assuming just high milage?

The one on the number two cylinder is the worst. But are they too pitted? I'm only aware of it being an issue on the seat. Anyone aware of an issue with them being like this? I'd rather not buy new valves if I don't need to

I've heard and seen valves break up but don't know if it's linked with valve pitting. I know it's not on the valve seat but I would change them for peace of mind.
Of course you could leave them but any pits or holes in the combustion chamber will be susceptible to carbon build up.

I'll check the valves in the engine it's going on and see if I can mix and match, maybe pick up a couple just to be safe.

I've also noticed that I can compress all 8 lifters. I assumed I wouldn't be able to move them as they'd be full of oil. Seen a couple of people have rebuilt these, they don't have any scoring on uneven wear so wanted to reuse them, but should they have remained full of oil?

When i get a chance i'll submerge them in oil and pump them up to double check.
