Chasis Ground location

Hi,

Been trying to diagnose cause of no engine start, looks like flat battery (Multimeter arriving tomorrow).

Now I'm trying to figure out why the battery wasn't charging, or discharged (car had been used two days before). A youtube video said check the Chassis ground. Well my chassis ground was not attached, looks like it has corroded off (please correct me if this isn't the chassis ground). Is it possible that this is the cause?

Any tips on how to reattach?

Cheers

I think that one is meant to connect to the rocker cover.

Nope, That one connects in the scuttle panel and is for heated washer jets (only thing I can think of anyway).

The main earth is just below the battery, goes from the gearbox to the chassis leg and then to the battery -ve.
You also have one that goes from a rocker cover stud (the back N/S one IIRC) to the bulkhead, near the coil.
One that goes from the carb to the head, for all the carb electrickery.
And a small one at the bottom of the steering column to the body, for the horn.

after going to great lengths to make my own earth and live leads i found out halfords actually do reasonable earth and live cables ready made for very little if you need them replacing.

i found my live and earth cables had all gone high resistance making it hard to start and had massage volt drops around the bay so changed them to new ones.
