Which grade and specification of engine oil do you recommend for a 1.8 injection, j plate 91

I believe it's
10/40 semi synthetic.
A popular oil is synta silver oil that was available from the dealer

10W40 semi synthetic is what you need and best to use a good quality filter, you can buy a genuine VW ones for I guess less than a Halfords own brand filter!
