wheres the best place to get synta silver from?
vw have started selling castrol instead and said they dont have the synta silver anymore.
i have looked on ebay but i dont like the idea of buying oil from an auction site as it could be anything with some sellers.
plus when i checked euro car pars to see if they stock it they recommend 5/40 grade oil!
surely thats way too thin?

This places sells it and you can get a genuine VW oil filter as well, they seem to be working on there website so you may need to check later.

With Euro car parts use the engine oil tap only the top and you should be able to select with ever grade of oil you want.

This place is usally cheaper, don't put your reg in and select the engine oil tap along the top.

I've been using this stuff for a few years and it seems ok, I do change it every 10,000 miles or 12 months.

Cheers mark1gls
I was looking at that QX stuff and liked the fact you can get it in 25 litre drums.
I might just do that and stock up on filters

i ended up using the mobil 1 stuff in the end.
to be honest the car seems to run really well on it and its even quietened down the tappets.

Glad it's OK and the tappets are quieter or is it the weather has now changed and the drivers window is wound up so you can't hear the engine ?

This any good for topping up here
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Engine-Oi ... 4619a14e29
As I was told not to use this in the last century
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Engine-Oil-Ca ... 43c0a34410
As it blocks up pipes and sticks to much.

I've seen it prone to condensation build up in the engine and breathers but thats nothing to serious as a good run clears it out.
