1988 Scirocco GTX 1.8 [REDUCED TO £800]

Post by RoccoSteve »

FOR SALE - WOULD SUIT SOMEONE WITH TIME TO TINKER

1988 - Scirocco GTX 1.8 - £1000 - Manchester

Model: GTX
Year:1988
Mileage:168K
MOT: March 16
Current owner: Me
V5 present: Will have to check (think so!)
Location: Manchester (3 miles off M60)
Price: £1000
Contact Details: 07500875351
Additional Information:

Good solid car with only minor body work needed
Cheap insurance (classic) - I currently pay less than £250 a year
Taxed and MOT'd
Very rare car, less than 100 of the 1988 GTX left on the road
Recently had over £700 of repairs, CV joints, bearings, full service, new wishbones, new pads & drums, reconditioned fuel pump.
Interior looks decent, drivers seat could do with rebolstering though
Dashboard in excellent condition no warping etc
Original keys and immobiliser

Bad points:

Was running the car everyday until about 6 weeks ago when the fuel pump started making noise and the engine cut out. Think either a perished fuel line or gunk in the fuel pump. Went to drive it to the mechanic a week later and the brakes had gone, brake fluid leaked out. Again I suspect a perished brake line but this would need investigating.

Some surface rust near the driver side rear wheel and around the petrol cap.

Some minor scraping on the rear wheel arch.

Very minor rust starting to appear on bonnet lip.

Needs new sunroof, has come off rail - is flush and waterproof but the lining isn't looking so good.

OVERALL

It's a steal for anyone who buys as it's had a lot of work done already. I am just not in a position to put more into the car in my current situation (saving for a mortgage). The interior is good and clean (minus the sunroof headlining). Could probably do with getting the seats rebolstered but are fine for now. The bodywork is really solid, no rust at all underneath the car. I'm gutted to be getting rid but needs must. The car is available if anyone wants to come and view it, just let me know.

PICTURES :

The top picture is what she looks like after a polish, this was taken around a year and a bit ago I think. You'll see the current pictures as well, looks quite dull but that's because she's been sat outside unloved for a while :(
