Headlight backing frame

Hi,

I'm in the process of stripping my lights and I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how the white clips come out of the backing frame once the light units have been removed?

It looks to me like they twist but I don't want to apply to much pressure and potentially snap them.

Here's a couple of pictures of what I mean.

Yeah they twist and pull through, the plastic will be brittle so a few may break.

Probably worth dousing them liberally with penetrating fluid before you try...

Thanks lads,

I thought as much, I'll leave them over night with some penetrant.

Are they still available if I were to break any?

heat them gently with a hair-dryer first iirc they pop as much as twist?

Some are still available from VW Classic Parts in Germany, there are four different parts in total:

Outers:
533 941 133
533 941 141

Inners:
533 941 133 A
533 941 141 A

This is the quote I got from Classic Parts last year:

Some are available on eBay and from VW Heritage.

There is at least one thread on the forum about alternatives from other vehicles.
