Scirocco Register

Hi there, had my Scirocco a couple of months now but what's annoying me is that the LCD clock has packed up, could anyone tell me the size of the aperture for it? As i've seen many LCD/LED 12v clocks on ebay, I can't measure the hole correctly as the clear plastic cover on the dash clocks prevents this. Here's a link to the one I'm looking at.

i think you might struggle to get an aftermarket one to fit as the clock is part of the cluster.
but dont let me put you off, i would like to replace mine too and would love for someone to come up with a solution.

trouble is if you just pull the clock out i dont know what else may not work

I was thinking of removing the original clock and then gluing the new one to the back of the cluster face and then installing a separate live feed for it, there looks like should be enough clearance as the new clocks i've seen are pretty thin.

If you have a DX engine you likely have an MFA, in which case it will be a lot more involved. If not then you could use an after market clock I suppose. If it's a battery operated one then I would probably take a look at the combined battery voltage required and use resisters to get the 12v feed from the cluster to where you want it to be, this will give you more options to find a good fitting clock as the ones you've mentioned look as though they would be too small to fill the space.

I do like the idea of having a thermometer though, shame it's blue!

Mines just the basic clock. I have seen another LED one available in red, blue, yellow and green, with temp and voltage functions, so it would be my own MFA of sorts! I am tempted by the OEM one though. Looks like I'll have to remove the clocks and measure the aperture and then make a final descision. Might as well order the chrome ring set while I'm at it.

Yeah, Go OEM! I would say those chrome rings won't do you many favours, about the quality you'd expect from a max power freebe
