You may think I am truly mad but welcome to the sale of my 1979 Volkswagen Scirocco Storm.
This model is often seen as the pinnacle of Mk1 Scirocco ownership and this one will not disappoint!
As seen at Stanford in May and this months Scirocco National, it's finished in the rarest of Storm colours, Schwarz, and complemented by the full tan leather interior, this car is one of only 17 Scirocco Storm's registered in the UK during 1979, the first year of production. Registered on 1st September 1979, the car is as close to the original factory spec as it could be bar the full Webasto sunroof which was dealer fitted, still works perfectly and is completely watertight.
The fuel injected 1.6 EG engine performs superbly and is very free revving and has had the following completed in the last 800 miles purely as a precautionary measure:
• Full service
• New cambelt and tensioner
• Complete set of coolant hoses
• Replacement heater matrix
• Full set of core plugs
• New inlet and exhaust manifold gaskets
In the recent past, this vehicle has undergone a full body restoration which has been completed to a very high standard. This included two new front wings and welding repairs to the A pillars and inner wing/headlamp bowls which these are notorious for. The rear beams mounts are still rock solid as too are the rear arches, sills, doors and tailgate.
The interior is like new. The seats are in exceptional condition and have no cracks in the leather whatsoever or wear marks, These are again original and are a credit to how well this car has been looked after. The leather door cards are again in outstanding condition without any marks, damage or cracks. The dashboard unfortunately does have a few cracks on the top, but these are minimal and do not detract from the ambiance of the interior. Lastly, it still retains its genuine brown leather Storm edition Wolfsburg steering wheel and wooden gear knob. You can also travel back in time and listen to an original Blaupunkt Hamburg MW/LW radio should you ever get bored of listening to the exhaust note!

The vehicle is currently taxed but this can no longer accompany the vehicle with DVLA's new rules and it is MOT'd until October 8th.
Why am I selling? I love project vehicles and I have just acquired a model of car that I have wanted for years (all will be revealed soon and you will fully understand why!) meaning one of my other cars has to make way.
