Did you get your kit off?!

Post by T33stat »

Catchy title, less catchy post!

What horror stories have people experienced when removing the bodykit from a Mk2 scirocco? I want one without a bodykit but it's proving difficult, I may end up buying one with a kit and taking it off, but I don't fancy uncovering tons of work for myself!!!

Thanks
T33

I had looked through your post, not disastrous I must agree but didn't it look much solider with the kit on... Could have been much more welding though! One of my friends has a mk2 and his rear arch doesn't exist, the kit seems to cover a massive void!

I have had the exact opposite too, took the kit off expecting horrors hidden below, the arch was perfect bar a little bit of crustyness on the inner lip.
Can be a bit of a minefield, an otherwise mint car can have alsorts hidden behind the kit.

Be aware though, if you take a kit off and run without there are holes that need filling where the kit mounts to the body. Not a big issue, even less if you need to repair bad bits anyway but worth taking into account.

Ben.

Depends whether or not you want it to be aesthetically pleasing.

See my project thread A20 GTX. It can be done but probably worth checking your arches, rears especially, before you embark on a full disrobe.
