I'd posted on this a while back, prices seem to be rocketing!

Possibly being dragged up on the back of the silly price increase of Mk1 Golf's/other 80's hatcbacks...?

So top end 'rocco's are becoming more desireable as an alternative to the lots of over priced 'good from 50ft'ers'...

i wont complain though having both a Mk1 golf and a GT2... I knew i kept them for a reason. (Though not sure if an auto rocco will ever be truely desirable...)

What prices are these cars actually achieving?
The GT has been for sale for over a year. The GT2 seems a tad expensive to me

realistic prices would be around £1000 upwards for mot'd and driveable .. now ive been toying with the idea of buying a daily rocco, but no way would i be paying over £1500 ( unless well looked after ) let alone the prices they are advertised. 1 woman stated in the of the adverts , that if her car was 100% rust and ding free then she would of advertised it at 10k think she needs to venture out the house and step into 2015

Think as folk have said roccos always cheaper than Golf GTi and prices of Mk1 and 2s have become obscene lately pulling rocco £ with them. The plus side is it would mean that more get saved as worth more, although hopefully we aren't seeing a boom in classic prices due to investors as opposed to enthusiasts again!

It's quite a while since I last went to my 3 local breakers. I went last week (looking for some minor bits n bobs) and not a single Rocco (or 32 style Passat) in sight This I guess points to a couple of things, obviously it means they are getting thinner on the ground in general and also that folks are fixing them not scrapping them. So, a case of "supply and demand" ?

I have a very nice 85 GTS, plus a very nice 86 T25 "tin-top" camper, both of them are going up in price. I use them both as daily drivers (the other half uses the Rocco more than I do) so I am certainly not an investor, but certainly I am an enthusiast

There's no denying that our little secret of the rocco is gaining a wider following. All you need to do is head to any VW show, 5 years ago you'd have hardly seen a rocco, mk2 that is a mk1 would have virtually never have been seen. Now though there's plenty that show up.

Prices over that time have also gone up, every year I've had to increase the insurance on my Mk2 Injection, I only paid £670 for it 8 years ago but have had to insure it for £2500. That will be going up again in May!!!!! while its a good thing to keep them on the road, the down side is entry cars are getting more expensive. As mentioned above £1000 is not needed and that will be a carb. Which may drive potential owners away toward more conventional alternative if there spending that kind of money.

However in the long term it may lead to some of those hard to find parts becoming available if the market is there, I'm thinking fuel filler necks and replacement panels as the cars will be worth saving.

Can still get filler necks through VW dude if you get someone willing to help and order from Germany, Heritage want £350+ I managed to get through a TPS for less.
