Tailgate screen wash cap

Does anyone know if this should have a cap at the top, aside from the black cover? Mine seems to be leaking and I don't know whether its just due to want of a cap, or whether its leaking from elsewhere.
See photos attached. thanks!

The only thing it has is what you're seeing, ie that big rubber thing labelled 8.

Thanks for the part details. Its weird there is no cap.
I think the water is leaking from the top, such as when you go over bumps. Does anyone have any other solution? I thought about a rubber stopper but not sure this will work.

Cut a circle from a plastic bag, poke a small hole in it (to equalise air pressure) and use a rubber band to secure it before putting the cap on.
Failing that, don't fill it to the brim.
Edit: Are you getting little puddles on the metal shelf under the container? Can you see the trail coming from the water bottle or tasted it to see if it is soapy? There are quite a lot of things that could cause water to pool there other than an overflowing water bottle, e.g., I had a puddle there because the parcel shelf carpet was wicking a leak from the rear quarter window and dripping it so that it looked like it was overflow from the bottle.

I filled it last night and checked it over, no apparent leak yesterday (with pump going) or indeed overnight.
Thinking about your comment about the pooling, it was indeed underneath. And the carpet was wet - sounds like a leak from elsewhere and tracking across the carpet.
Perhaps worth investing in a rubber mat for the floor - does anyone know of any sellers that make fitted rubber mats?
Thanks for the help!

A rubber mat will just trap the water underneath and stop it from evaporating. You really need to invest your time, rather than money, in finding where the water is getting in.

my rear water bottle used to splash over the cap and the floor all the time so i dont use it anymore.
i would use it till empty then dont refill it, dry the boot out then see if you still get water there.
if you do its nothing to do with the rear washer unit

Thanks all, will do some further investigation and let you know how I get on. Noted about the rubber mat not necessarily being the solution!

Have a look at the inside rear quarter panel under the parcel shelf speaker i.e behind the fuel filler area at the top of the wheel arch. A weirdly common place for corrosion - both my gt2 and Scala rusted through here and let wet in

Nothing weird about it. Dirt/moisture gets trapped behind the filler-neck in an area that's rarely cleaned; rust ensues.
