Stained sunroof fabric, cleaning...

Post by christhemann »

This looks like a common problem, seen it on a lot of roccos.
Doesn't help the look inside at all.

Anyone know of a good method / cleaning fluid to clean this with? Ideally don't wanna take sunroof out to do it.
Seems a bit mad to use cream/white fabric on this! Especially fluffy stuff that absorbs dirt...

Best bet is to use the upholstery cleaning foam, then wipe it off with a damp cloth. That will shift most of the dirt, but you may find your left with brown coloured stains (insert joke here !!) This is down to the glue that holds the cloth to the sunroof panel, and theres not alot you can do about it. If you really soak the fabric to clean it, it will just make the glue stains worse. I suppose the proper way to do it would be to remove the cloth completely, hand wash it with a little bleach in the water, let it dry naturally, then clean off all the remains of the old glue from the roof panel and then reglue it. But i dare say its not a starightforward job. :dunno:

Don't ask me....it was like that when i got here !
