We’ve been contacted recently (last week) about an adventure that two brothers, Tony and Paul Greer, on the 1st March they will set off on a 5000mile trip that will take them from London to the cold of the Arctic Circle. They will travel to Nordkapp in Norway the most northerly European town and 750miles inside the Arctic Circle, to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and the Antony Nolan. If that wasn’t difficult enough they have also set a budget for the vehicle for this transcontinental drive at a mere £1000. So what did this get them? A 1988 Volkswagen Scirocco.

Now the reason for the trip was twofold, one to “tick” of a challenge and second to support two charities that were close to both of then-

“We selected two charities with personal meaning to us. We both have a condition called Myelodysplasia which is a malfunction of the bone marrow in producing the correct quantity and quality of blood cells. (Myelo = Bone Marrow, Dysplastic = strangely shaped or abnormally shaped) and our Dad died from the disease 20 years ago at the age of 52. Although I was diagnosed twenty years ago I was fine until five years ago when I had a wobbly period for a couple of years but for a while now I've been pretty stable and Paul, thankfully hasn't presented with any symptoms yet. So it was with this in mind that we selected Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and the Anthony Nolan charities. Anthony Nolan manage the national bone marrow register”

The Scirocco Register is fully behind these boys, and want to get this out there so they can reach their £5000 target.

Also they may be after some help to get the car prepped, currently needs brakes and exhaust sorting, so keep an eye out for requests or questions.

I think you’ll agree it’s a fantastic adventure and well deserving charity so could you please show your support by “liking” and “sharing” their Facebook page-

https://www.facebook.com/ArcticBlast2015

And if possible donating what you can to their Just Giving account-

https://www.justgiving.com/teams/making ... rcticblast

We’ll keep you up to date on progress here and fingers crossed one of Germany’s finest coupe’s makes it not only all the way there but also back home.

Good luck Tony and Paul

They have asked if there is anyone local who can help them with giving the car a once over, service and a change of rear brake shoes etc The location of the car is Hampshire, GU46 area.

If you can give some time please get in touch with me or Tony direct on tonygreer@makingtracks.global

Hi everyone,

Many thanks to the Scirocco Register for its support of our challenge. Still not completely convinced that we are actually departing in just over 3 weeks!

As you know we have a FaceBook page and Twitter account and are in the process of establishing a blog where we'll write a journal of our adventures. We have two objectives, to raise money for the two charities and raise awareness of the bone marrow register and how easy it is to become a registered donor.

Finally we have a responsibility to our sponsors and supporters to give them as much credit as possible because without them this trip wouldn't be what it's meant to be. Like our pages, share with your friends and family. It's harmless, it's just a digital button but it has great meaning to us and if we get the groundswell of support we are looking for then everyone benefits.

Best wishes

Tony
