Scirocco Register

Just pressure tested coolant system and it appears to be the Coolant Flange on the side of the head (sorry for pinched picture below from another thread).

Am I correct in thinking it is actually GSF part 179VG0370?

Yes that's the part you are after, just make sure it comes with a new rubber o ring as that's what normally fails.
Also be careful undoing the nuts or bolts which hold the flange on as they can rust and snap off. If they are hard to undo do them up a little then undo a little more, do up a little, undo a little more etc... This clears the thread of rust and stops it locking tight and shearing off.

VW still sell the flanges, I bought one a couple of years ago, I think it was about 7 or 8 quid.
As stated be careful with undoing the old one.
