Stiff clutch

Got an incredibly stiff clutch going on at the moment. Was just wondering what i should be looking at to make it not so stiff. It's got a high biting point but surely that can't effect the hardness of the pedal?I'm thinking perhaps the clutch cable?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Probably worth replacing the cable, pour some 3 in 1 or similar thin oil into the cable before you fit it too, Makes a big difference.
Also make sure the cable is routed correctly, any unnecessary bends in the cable will make it feel heavy.
Check the bulkhead where the cable goes through too, If it is not straight going through here it can also make the clutch heavy, if there are any signs of weakness/flexing here, get a repair/reinforcement plate in if there isn't one there already.
The biting point being high shouldn't affect the feel as far as I'm aware, but it might be a sign that the clutch is getting near the end of its life.
Ben.

Thanks for the reply, Ben. Is there a specific way the cable should be routed? As it currently comes out of the bulkhead, goes in front of the engine (in-between the engine and subframe) then into the gearbox.

Stick a picture up of your engine bay mate.

Not 100% sure as my current and last car have had an engine and gearbox change so use a slightly different layout.
If it's a carbed car and my memory is any good it should come out of the bulkhead and over the engine between the rocker cover and the airbox. Then go down in front of the master cylinder, where there should be a plastic clip to hold it in place, and into the cast bracket on the gearbox.
Not sure if the injection cars are the same as I've never owned one. But if you can get a pic up I'm sure Ian will be able to correct me and let you know if it's going the right way or not.
Ben.

Clutches also get stiff with age. Very possible yours still has the original in.
