The 10. A 16v quest.

Stuck at home bored beyond belief, I tried to gather pics of 'The 10'. As in the ten 16v Sciroccos officially imported by VW UK. If this is a mythical figure, who knows. Anyway here are the only ones I could find. Please give your thoughts. If you can add pics or registrations, that would be great.

Image
C71 PRP and C72 PRP, pictured on a test day at Donington back in the 80s. These were VW press cars so can be counted as 2 out of the 10.

Image
C501 DNV. This is from a VW press photo so again it's safe to say this is genuine.

Image
D417 ONH, another press pic so a gen 16v.

Image
Image
C251 EUC I took this at VW Action many years ago. It had a RHD conversion. The UK spec side repeaters give it away as a UK spec model.

Image
D922 URP It appears to be a genuine one of the 10. Not ruined by RHD conversion and has UK side repeaters. We'll count this one.

Image
F368 LPK Sean F knows the history of this car, so this one counts too.

Image
C241 NMW This is a GT16v rather than GTX16v. It was featured in VWM but I can't find the article. No side repeaters makes me think this was a personal import rather than one of the VW UK cars. Your thoughts on this one please.

Image
D36 OFC This is on the forum in the projects thread. It had a RHD conversion. The lack of side repeaters makes me think the converter imported it themselves. Again your thoughts on this one please.

Image
C861 GVU I took this pic at Stanford Hall. It's LHD but is sans side repeaters. A personal import rather than VW UK?

I may be way off of the mark with these. It would be great to know what 'The 10' were. Again, any help, pics or thoughts are greatly received.

Bill Brockbank (aka Badger Bill of Badger5) has (or at least had) one of them - D plate in Mars Red I think - although the last time I saw it was more moss green :dunno:

Hi Guys

Out of interest, what would one of these in A1 condition be worth?

Also, please forgive my ignorance - what are "side repeaters" and why would that suggest a UK spec?

Best regards

Mark

Price I would say is difficult to state, while they are rare, their not really known about and Scirocco cirlces are only small. I'd say they were probably only worth slighty more that an Injection car, in A1 condition maybe £3.5k.

Others may have a better idea, to be honest never seen one come up for sale.

As for side repeaters, there the indicators in the wings just infront of the doors ;)
