If a usa mk1 scirocco chrome rear bumper is the same as a uk rear bumper

I know that us end caps are a different size and don't fit uk cars but that is only where they attach to the wing, they deffo attach at the bumper end exactly the same which would suggest that they are the same, I think it is only the mounting brackets that are different due to the us laws on bumpers.

I gave my chromes to a guy in the US - he seemed to think they were slightly shallower i think?
