Scirocco Register

Im currently in the stage or rebuilding my 1.8t (aum) lump, also still have a few parts to get before its ready to go in the 'rocco..

Iv spoke to a few people who are running Golf mk1's n mk2's with 1.8t's..and they strongly sugggest using a hydro clutch.

So has anyone on here done it? any tips ?

You need to source a pedal box with a hyd clutch conversion... i have not done it tbh, but have had a mk2 golf that had 1 in. It looks like quite abit of work, you'll need the pedal box, servo, master cyl, slave cyl, pipework etc.

I guess it depends on the box you want to use, dont quote me but i think most 1.8T 6 speed boxes are hydraulic clutch, as are the VR6s. My 1.8T still runs a cable clutch, its abit heavy but works fine (i quite like it abit heavier), the only issue is that it runs over the top of the engine and looks abit of a mess... i'm going to sort it eventually. Its a 02A from a corrado i believe, cable clutch and gearchange. Works fine with a diff.. and has taken the 250bhp well so far.

With a bit of thought you can run the hydraulic master cylinder from a modified standard pedal box. This is what I have done before and will do again on my own car when we get there!
