I got the car in February and Thursday was the third time that I have been driving and the car dies. I have no warning it just stops. I feel bad because I love the car and I enjoy driving it but I feel limited because I feel I can't go on motorways etc in case it happens. However when it stops the electrics work e.g. I can put the hazards on etc. Firstly I had a new battery put in and the alternator was showing up as fine. The second time it happened I took the alternator out and sent it to a specialist who said there was no fault so I then refitted it and took the car over to the place where he cleaned and repaired the A feed coming from alternator to starter motor and cleaned the starter motor post. He re soldered original earths to body and ran in a new earth strap. He did say that a further investigation into the PCB may be required. So this week that is what is gonna be checked.
I don't know what else it could be!! I do drive short distances from work etc so maybe that has something to do with it.
Any ideas?

Re: Intermittent Problem
When it dies does it start up again straight away?
Could be the ignition switch? Or the plug that pushes on to it? Or a relay

Re: Intermittent Problem
Check your fuel pump relay.
After a few years some of the inside contacts get a bit dodgy and will fail.

Re: Intermittent Problem
Your car is a GT correct? Then it will not have a fuel pump relay as your fuel pump is mechanical. I would be looking at the ignition switch, get the cowling off and have a good look and clean up.
