Fuel Filler Neck

I'm after some help please.

My filler neck has rotted through, I've had a search on here and there is a lot of info on replacing it. However a lot of the links don't work, they come up with sciroccoregister forum rather than sciroccoregister. The replies I have found all have further links that are the same as above?

What size spare wheel does yours have? If it's full-size, you'll struggle to find a genuine replacement and will probably have to modify a mk1 Golf filler-neck to fit - which means changing the fuel cap as well.

If you have a space-saver spare, you're in luck and can get a new filler neck from VW Classic Parts.

The links are being repaired at the moment? There's a lot of them!

if you click on a link that comes up as not found, just remove the word "forum" and it should work fine

Didn't realise they had space savers back then!

Not fussed about changing the cap as mine barely works, does the golf one need much modifying to fit?

Space-savers from '85 model-year onwards, I think.

I think there's a little chopping with a hacksaw involved, but it's quite straightforward. Plenty of people have done it.

that isn't a space saver! it's a mk3 golf (or possible polo) poverty spec steelie. doesn't necessarily help with deciding which wheel well you have

Your CL is an 82, so has the smaller fuel tank and full sized spare wheel so you will need an earlier filler neck.

Actually, I think it's a standard Scirocco CL steel wheel. As Ian says, '82 CL will have a full-size spare-wheel well/smaller fuel tank.

Ordered a Mk1 Golf on off eBay for £38. Pretty close match, the filler end has a flange around the neck, the mounting tab is a different angle and the bends are slightly different.
