I came up with the silly idea that it might be fun to fit a shift light in one of the spare LED spots in the clocks.
A red flashing LED that comes on a tad before hitting the rev limiter. I know it's pretty pointless on a road car but I can't help dreaming up jobs I'll probably never get round to doing.
Just wondered if anyone good with electrics has a solution to do something along these lines?

Possible yes, how you'd do it, no idea...
You would probably need to tap into the rev meter somewhere are work out what voltage it's at when you want the shift light to come on. Then put some type of resistance inline just under that voltage so when it hits it the correct one it would allow the current through therefore lighting up the led
No really benefit getting the revs near the rev limiter as the car runs out of go above 5,500 rpm so best to change up before getting there to get the most out of the engine.

Thanks guys, and thanks for the link. Wasn't serious enough about it to fork out that kind of money though. It was really a case of not being able to switch my brain off.
In the end I decided to do this...
And just put my immobilizer LED in the spare centre spot for an OEM factory fit alarm!

I took a load of photos just haven't got round to writing it up yet. I had a spare set of clocks so didn't mind taking a drill to them as I had spares. Luckily it worked out OK I'll tray and do a how too soon.
