Mk3 golf AFT crossflow into my Mk1 Storm? plug and play?

I've just purchased a crossflow 1.6 AFT engine from a mk3 golf (I was looking for a 5 speed gearbox and this whole engine came up for the same price) to hopefully drop into my mk1 scirocco and eventually put bike carbs on it.

til I decide to put the carbs on it I'm going to be using the engine as standard so I wondered...

since my car already has the counterflow 1.6 injected (k-jet) engine in it, will it just be a case of dropping the new engine in and plugging it into my existing wiring and its ready to go or will I need anything else like the ECU from the newer car?

I tried the search function and google and couldnt find an answer (there just seems to be a lot of stuff about modifying the engines)

cheers in advance

Why would you go from a 110bhp engine to a 100bhp engine? Pretty certain you will need an ECU and maybe have issues with the factory fit immobilizer if it was fitted with one which I'm sure they were.

thats beside the point however...

To start with you'd need the entire injection system and some/all of the air intake system. You'd have to customize the mk1 fuel lines to fit and perhaps introduce a fuel pressure regulator.

You'd then to marry up the coolant pipes to the existing rad / fuel tank. I'm not sure if the AFT block even has the mounting holes for the mk1 engine mounts.

Maybe new spark plug leads. Does the AFT have a coil pack or distributor?

Once you have all the hardware issues sorted you can worry about the ECU - and you'll probably find you're better off going with MegaSquirt :-D

ive heard mixed things about the mounts.

suppose i'll just have to see when it turns up.
