Evening all,

Im looking to replace all of engine mounts of my mk2 scala 1.8i. I cant seem to find any polyurethane upgrades or any other uprated mounts for the car or mk1 golf gti.
Dos anyone know of any? Or is there a reason why they are not available?

If theres none available, Ill just fill them with a 2 part polyurethane resin to make them solid anyway as long as my chassis wont fall apart lol

I'd honestly stick to originals, and I'm speaking as someone that's upgraded pretty much everything else.
Poly engine mounts make EVERYTHING really crashy. Changing gear? Yeah, it'll feel like your driving over a cattle grate. Downshifting? Cattle grate again.

Not sure if you can still get them here but factory Scirocco 16v side engine/gearbox mounts were always the chosen upgrade. Mk1 Golf diesel rear gearbox mount too. All referred to in places as HD (Heavy Duty) mounts.

As Mr.Funk points out, don't get tempted by the red poly mounts under any circumstances.

I've poly bushed most of my car. The only reason being that I used to crack a lot of my old rear engine mounts and now that I have a four branch fitted I don't want it cracked. If you have an easy right foot I would stick with standard. If your fitting a four branch then definitely poly bush the rear mount to stop movement. The poly bushes do make it a bumpy drive and cause a lot more vibrations. If your cars on a ramp the engine mounts are a breeze to change. On the ground they are a pain in the f..king tits and I would pay a garage to use their ramp for an hour if I had to do this again.

VW Heritage sell Bugpack engine mounts which are uprated, as well as standard.

Ill probably go for heavy duty ones then. I use the car mostly on track but i do use it at weekends aswell on the road so i dont want to loose my teeth every drive. Thanks for the advise.
