Hi all and thanks in advance for any replys.
Ive got an 86 gts and over the past week ive noticed its got harder to get her into 2nd, normally she pops in without bother but recently ive had to use abit more force. I dont think its me driving like a muppet either
No problems on any of the other gears so could be something simple i think
cheers

Hi Liam, does it get better when the car is warmed up, or is it always tricky?

If it's not the synchromesh as suggested above then it might be worth checking the plastic parts of the gear linkages - they're available on ebay as a set.

Thanks for the reply
It doesnt get better when warm, so maybe it may be the latter. Seems like I better get a haynes manual, to change the gear linkages rubbers i wouldnt have to drop the box i suppose?
Ill have a root around the bay then
cheers

No need to drop the box, you can change some from above and some from below. Though when i done mine i took it all out and done it on the work bench. Just take a good look at it before you take it out and it wont be hard to put back in

You can get all the bits for the linkage from GSF; might be worth doing the ball joint on the stick too while your there; if you can lift up the gearstick it's prob worth replacing. Also check your gearbox oil.. (Easily overlooked!)

Will defo get a haynes before starting work tho...then theirs checking the rear arches, dreaming of engine mods etc etc!
