Hi all my gt2 with pierburg carb is finally Getting it's self closer to car heaven (crushed or an accidental fire)

This morning from my house to wednesbury and back it broke 5 tyms average this ment every 3mins
It drives ok I suppose but wen it breaks it's like the revs stop the car jurks for a lil bit then stops dead
It's had new plugs leads cap rotor.. vpower fuel carb was set on colour tune and dizzy timing set with vacuum unplugged with timing light then vaccum put back on advances as should

I really give up if I still smoked this morning It would ov been on the new tonite as car fire on blackcountry route

Feel like getting the fiesta mk2 bk out the garage never missed a beat

Fuel supply.

Rust in the tank from the fuel filler pipe? Check the inline fuel filter.

Changed filter wen I brought the car it did have rust in wen I brought the car... I think I'm gonna change the pierburg filter canister as mine looks old but my spare car has a nice shiny new 1 wiv it so gonna try that now

Also is there a relay that runs the carb at all? I know there's a fuse

Is there rust in the inline filter now? If there is you need to check out the tank.
What condition is the filler neck in?

Just been and looked pretty bad tbh m8 it's mainly looks to be bodged wiv p40 neva saw this b4

Sounds like you have found your problem mate.

Thanks m8 is this something I can take off cut the rot out and weld back up with some exhaust pipe I have sitting about? Also what's the best way to clean out tank only quarter ov a tank in it...

You will be better off trying to source a new one but if you are confident you could repair it then try it. Make sure all the rust is off and treat it with a rust resisting paint.

Stainless steel necks do crop up occasionally, put an ad in the wanted section.

Done a temp repair cut all the rot out welded bit back in changed all the fuel filters seems ok now so fingers crossed thanks for all the help guys (would of brought a new 1 but pretty skint at min just moved house )

You could throw a magnet into the tank to attract any rust left in there.
Good news the car is better now.

I feel obliged to point out that you need to take the sender out to put the magnet in. Just posting it down the filler neck won't work!
