Scirocco Register

Can anyone point me at a Scirocco-specific list of things to check and how to check them, it's a 1.8 8V with the standard 2e2 carb.

Was running fine on Wednesday but not catching so suspect the ignition but unsure where to start (beyond checking the leads are all seated).

Specific to all (petrol) cars, not just Sciroccos!

Is there fuel?
Is there air?
Is there a spark?

Have you got a Haynes, pretty good at telling you where to look.

Yes, I know those three things are essential and yes I have a Haynes which I'm looking at now, I just wondered if there was a simple checklist specific to carb Mk2s!

It has been hard to start when cold for a while but usually shows some signs of life...
