boot hinge question

Hi all, kind of a follow up to my leak query and need of help combined.
I think my hinges are leaking water in to the car. Three questions, 1 is this possible? 2 how are these sealed? 3 how do you remove the hinges/bootlid from the car body? Sorry if they are stupid questions

1.it is possible that they let water through.
2. there is a sort of foam seal between the hinge and the chassis, but this will be mostly gone after all these years.
3. you need to loosen the headliner from left to right, take out the foam bit and then you find 3 M6 bolts on either side.
if you take these out the complete hatch will come of, but watch out it will be very heavy and can not be done alone.
You need at least one but better is two extra pair of hands to hold it when you loosen it.
And do not forget to take the pistons off as well.

Succes, Joost

ps. download the attachment for details.

Awesome thanks. Can you get replacement seals? If not, any ideas what to use?

Sorry for my late reaction.
The seal itself is no moren than a sort of foam sheet or so, i think if you use a thin rubber glued on it would do the trick.
