Euro Car Parts Clutch cable any good

The clutch cable on the wife's mk2 GT (1.8 carb 1989) has snapped off at the pedal (not had a proper look yet but guessing its snapped and not just popped off?!).

Was getting difficult to select 1st and 2nd for a few days. Anyway, I've had a look on here and found that some retailers sell the wrong length. I never quite trust ECP but they have them in stock (delivery at least) and I read that GSF sold the short ones tat didn't fit. Anyway, anyone know if the one ECP sell fits our car?

Also... Never done one before, any tips, which end first, tricks on adjusting? I'll have a go then call breakdown if I fail.

2 things
1- try and straighten the 45 degree bend in the outer cable at the pedal end to about 20 degrees.
This sharp angle in the outer cable is what causes most cables to snap in the first place.
2- hang the cable vertically and feed 3 in 1 oil or similar into the inner cable and outer. This will give a smoother operation.
Don't stop oiling until oil starts to drip out of the other end of the cable.
The cable I have on my car is about 5 years old and still slick to use.

Agree with the fitting of the new cable, especially the angle and getting loads of oil inside the sleeve.
Try to source a Gemo cable, there is a place called Volkspares in Croydon that sell them.

Good tips guys, cheers.

The benefit of ECP is that if it doesn't fit, there is a branch locally that will refund it, saving postage hassle.

I will look into the Volkspares one if they have it. (Off to an all day pub crawl now so haven't checked it properly yet). I guess it will make sense to measure it first so I can make sure I get the right one.

Indeed, at a premium as well! They have certainly changed in the last few years!
