Deleted your duplicate thread mate.

As Nate as stated, it could be a number of things. Check all the vacuum hoses are in good order and fitted!

What does the inline fuel filter look like?

Has it been sat for a while with old fuel in?

Id recommend putting shell vpower in anyway. Means you can run more initial advance therefore get more power. Ive got an inductive pickup timing light with adjustable advance if its any help.

How have you set the fueling up?

Hi mate ive not set the fuel up yet as the carb we fitted came off a good running 1.8... I've got a colour tune which I will put on an try set a bit better im moving house today to so can put some vpower in an drive it to new house.... I had a timing light on it yesterday but wen I get the timing spot on it cuts out ...

The fuel filter looks ok but as u sed the car has sat for about a year and I don't know how long the fuel has been init...

I'm gonna have another look wen I get chance will keep updated

Not certain on the carb engines but for the injection its 6 degrees of advance you need so you need a timing gun that lets you set advance.

Its normal for the revs to drop as you retard the ignition so its then a case of adjusting the idle screw.

Also the ones with inductive pickups are better as they dont disturb the ht lead connection.

As for colourtunes I wouldnt recommend that to be honest, you can usually do a pretty good job setting carbs up by ear but the timing needs to be right before you do the mixture.

Ive made up an exhaust gas analyser using a lambda sensor hooked up to a voltmeter, cost very little snd gives a good indication of fuel air mixture ypu can watch while driving around to ensurethe mix is good all through the rev range under different loads.

That sounds interesting. I would like to know a bit more on how you have got that working.

Ben.
