Plastic membrane behind door card

Post by marcus »

Anyone know the purpose of the thick clear plastic membrane behind the door card? I'm inclined to try to reproduce it after I've repainted my door but is it worth it other than from the originality point of view?

I would definitely replace it as it stops water leaking into the cab!

it doesn't need to be clear. cheapest way to make new would be to use builders dpm sheet, cheap as chips from any builders merchant type place. £6.20 for a 3x4m sheet in toolstation then you would just need some suitable sticky stuff to seal it to the door. ideally this would be non-setting so you can remove it in the future if needs be, but no reason why you couldn't just use sikaflex or sanitary silicone
