Stripping a Mk2 door for repainting, got the quarter glass out, Haynes just says 'lift the glass from the door'...
Clearly it needs to come out of the metal channel at the bottom that's part of of the window raising mechanism but I'm fearful of breaking the glass...

Re: How do I remove the main door glass?
x2 little bolts are all that hold the drop glass and its retainer to the winder channel. Wind the window up/down a little to reveal bolts, undo and lower the glass into the body of the door. Remove all seals. Unbolt/screw and remove the black upright channel then lift the drop glass out of the door.

Undid the top channel screw (Phillips), middle channel screw (Allen head), and bottom bolt (which I didn't remember from the last time I did it), with the window wound down to the bottom and the trim strip (horizontal, flush with the top edge of the window when wound down) removed, wearing rubber gloves eg for dishwashing gripped the surfaces of the quarter glass from each side with palms flat and pulled gently towards the lock end of the door, the gloves made all the difference, impossible to get any grip without them.
