In the past, I've always had alloys that are shiny silver paint, so have given them a good coat of wax to help keep the brake dust from staining them.

I've just bought a brand new set of satin black wheels for my other halfs mid life crisis. I want to do something to help preserve the finish as long as possible, but don't want to do anything that might screw up the finish on them. Any advice?

Cant see why wax would hurt them.

At least brake dust wont show up.

Isn't brake dust satin black anyway?

sadly, my cunning plan failed. these rims show up brake dust much worse than the silver ones :crying:

Just don't clean them! Eventually they will all be one colour. Lol
