Voltage regulator

Hi all,

Since I've had the Rocco I've been getting a reasonably loud whine which appears to be coming from the lift pump but it's not a steady whine - tends to "pulse" a bit and the voltmeter will give a varying reading bewtween 12/13 volts.

I've replaced the lift pump - no change to the whine but following something that I came across I thought to change the volage regulator. Some success - a much more stable whine, however, the voltmeter will now for periods show a reading of nearly 10 volts ie in the red zone (and the battery charging indicator light on the dash will come on), sometimes about 11 volts (red/ green zone) and at times it will show a reasonable reading of around 13 volts.

Is this likely to be a faulty regulator (it was brand new from ECP) or a fitting issue - mind you I can't see that it's a difficult part to fit - unless I've missed somethng.

Thanks

Jeff

i think you should be getting about 14 volts ish with the engine running

if the regulator is at fault it will overcharge the battery and cook it when i had a regulator fault my dash lights got realy bright and when i looked the battery was spitting acid on the underside of the bonnet

could be bearings or bushes but either way it does sound like you need another alternator
