Hi all
I have just discovered that the drivers side front spring has snapped on my mk2 scirocco looking for a new one but it seems only vw heritage does front replacements is there anywhere else that do them and are they hard to replace.
Many thanks in advance

It doesn't look hard according to Haynes but I'll defer to the suspension experts, but if you haven't already got one, get yourself on Amazon or eBay and get a spring compressor. Might be worth renewing the top mount while you're at it.

Might also be worth sending Mr Funk a PM, in case he still has the springs from the car he's just broken.

Seen a set of 3 spring compressors at machine mart for £30 there are cheaper ones on ebay but for safety sake I think they might be better.

Obviously you have to go with what you feel comfortable with.
By eBay I didn't mean one-off auctions, but the 'buy it now' type of sale from eBay shops, I've had good quality stuff from both eBay shops and Amazon sellers.
Don't forget, some of the major retailers have eBay shops, definitely worth looking at Euro Car Parts eBay shop for example.

Anyone know why you can't buy the front springs from places like eurocarparts they do the rears but not the fronts.

Is that based on what you can see on their website or have you asked over the phone or in-branch? I ask because in my experience they sometimes have stuff you can't find on their website.

And it is sometimes worth asking a main dealer, not everything is crazily expensive and sometimes actually cheaper.

Obsolete from the dealers now! Try GSF, I changed mine on my Scala with ones from there.
I would not be just changing one though, it's advisory to change both on the same axle so to speak. Also worth changing the top mounts as well, about £12 a side from GSF.
Another option which I can recommend is Eibach springs, these can be used with standard shocks, lower by about 25mm and does not make the ride uncomfortable, they will set you back about £150. I have these on my Storm with Bilstein B4 shocks.

don't think ian placed enough emphasis on this, so thought it was worth pointing out again. anything to do with brakes or suspension should be changed as a full axle set.

You are shopping in the wrong branch, changed mine 6 months ago and paid £12 from GSF!

You can also get top mounts from here but no springs, they also sell bump stops, plastic covers etc so have a look at yours to see if they need replacing as well.
http://www.vwspares.co.uk/scirocco_suspension.php
Once you have changed the spring you will need to set up the the camber (angle of the wheel) as you have to remove the strut from the car to get the spring off.
You will also need a socket like this to undo the top mount nut and an allen key to fit the shaft of the strut.
(Check the size of the nut with a normal socket before ordering anything)

I would have thought an offset ring spanner
like this would do the job.
